1. Glasses

If you wear glasses, you know how annoying it is when they fog up. Especially when wearing a face mask, this is often the case. Thankfully it’s easy to avoid. Rub a raw potato on the inside of your lenses. The starch in the potatoes keeps your glasses from fogging up.

2. Rust

Getting rid of rust is no easy task. Thankfully you can clean rusty knives and scissors with potatoes in no time. Cut the potato in half and put a bit of dish soap and baking soda on top. Rub it on the rust until it’s completely gone. Rinse well with water and let it dry.

3. Cleaning up glass

Shards may bring happiness, they say, but we definitely don’t want to step on them. It’s a difficult task to pick up all the shards and pieces of broken glass. Some pieces are so small that you don’t even see them. Here’s where potatoes come in handy. Cut a potato in half. Rub the open side on the ground where the glass broke. For safety, always wear protective gloves when doing so.

4. Polishing silver

Boiled potatoes on the menu? Save the water! The water contains lots of starch which can help get rid of annoying stains on your silverware. Place the silver in the water for at least an hour. Polish it when it’s dry and you’ll see how it looks shiny and new.

5. Small stains

Unfortunately, potatoes won’t be able to get giant red wine stains out of your white shirt, but it gets the job done for smaller stains. Dab a half raw potato on a grease stain to get rid of it. You’ll have to repeat the process numerous times to get the stain out completely.

Yes, a potato. Potatoes can give shine to your shoes like no other shoe polish, and it doesn’t cost as much too.
